Where water flows, equality grows. This is the topic of this year’s World Water Day, celebrated on 22 March. The 2026 edition focuses on water and gender.
For SSL, World Water Day is particularly meaningful. As an organization, we are implementing sustainability policies while also supporting gender equality in sport.
Gender equality is part of the SSL core. Star Sailors League promotes gender participation by giving the opportunity to nations around the world to participate, with a mandatory two female athletes on board.
Sailing has always been a space of freedom, but also of change, a direction that SSL continues to follow. On World Water Day, we are reminded to respect the nature that surrounds us, and to promote equality, both on the water and beyond.
